What makes a website easier for AI tools to understand?

19 March 2026 • 5 min read

Five practical, non-technical things that make your site legible to search engines and AI platforms alike.

1. Real text, not text inside images

If a key claim only exists inside a graphic or an animation, it may as well not exist. Important content should be readable HTML text.

2. Headings that describe the content beneath them

One clear H1 per page, then headings that read like questions or plain descriptions. This is the map that machines follow.

3. One page per subject

A single page trying to cover four services explains none of them well. Separate pages give each subject a clear, quotable answer.

4. Structured data

Schema markup states plainly what a page is: an organisation, a service, an article, a set of questions and answers. It removes guesswork.

5. Specific language

Name your services, your sectors and your locations. Precision is the single biggest advantage you have over competitors writing in generalities.
